The specific situation that led to me selling the G1 was a few children dancing in the street at a music festival. Is the G2 continuous and single AF faster than the G1? Would I have been better off going with the G2 (and its focus lock button), or should I have just stayed in single AF mode on the G1? That had far too much lag for me as well, when trying to use it for a moving subject. This resulted in the camera never taking photos when I pressed the release. Tracking was slow and the shutter was still on focus priority, so it would only take a photo when it could confirm focus. I had one big issue with the G1 focusing - it was utterly useless in continuous mode. I think it is all about compatibility with lenses which weren't available at the time. There are two versions of the G1, the difference being firmware which can be updated. The G2 an improved version of the G1 in alot of ways, except in size.
